Rory McIlroy embarrasses Elkington on Twitter

Ahh, the wonderful world of Twitter. It’s full of quick news, quick wits, tools, and straight savages. Rory McIlroy is one of those ferocious beasts of the 140 character social media site.

Former PGA Tour player Steve Elkington is never shy to share his feelings on social media. Well, he took a little jab at McIlroy who missed the cut at the U.S. Open. Turns out that was a big mistake, because you don’t mess with Rory McIlroy on Twitter.

And McIlroy can say a lot. When you’re a four-time major champion before the age of thirty, that speaks volumes. Not to mention the insane money he’s made, which he pointed out.

And this isn’t the only time McIlroy went in on Twitter. He’s had a couple of spats with Golf Channel personality, Brandel Chamblee among others.

Just because he’s a nice guy, doesn’t mean he won’t bite you with the poison fangs. Well played Rory. Well played.

Check out this amazing Tiger Woods press conference bingo board

Tiger Woods is returning to golf once again. And although it may seem to be a broken record, we can still take a look at some of Woods’ best quotes at press conferences.

Only, this is not your ordinary way of doing so. How about showing off Woods’ pressers in bingo board style?

That’s right. Twitter user Ari Marcus shared the amazing board online. Take a look.

Now, if only, “activate the glutes” was included on the board. Now, that would be dope, and would put a little bow on it.

Nonetheless, great job Ari. And welcome back Mr. Woods.

Dustin Johnson Suspended for Doing Cocaine, Had Sexual Affairs With PGA Wives

Hyundai Tournament of Champions - Final Round

Uh Ohhh! This is quite a series of events in a very short amount of time. First Dustin Johnson announced that he was taking a leave of absence from the PGA Tour to deal with “personal issues” and now it came out according to Golf.com that he was leaving to seek help for a problem he had with cocaine. The PGA Tour ended up suspending him for six months for doing such substance. DJ has been in trouble before with drug use as he was suspended for marijuana use in 2009, cocaine in 2012, and once again in 2014.

In 2012 and 2014, the years he did the cocaine, he had his strongest major finishes as a pro, finishing tied for 9th at the Open Championship in 2012 and finishing tied for 4th at the U.S. Open this year in 2014 (Which was his best U.S. Open finish). Maybe Dustin needs to play “White Lines” by the Sugar Hill Gang which talks about cocaine and the troubles of it. Here’s his statement courtesy of Golf.com.

“I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced,” he said in a statement issued by his management company. “By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion.”

Dustin’s agent David Winkle, when asked if Dustin would be suspended, texted a Sports Illustrated reporter saying “Don’t believe everything you hear”. Well, Mr. Winkle, I appreciate your efforts of defending your client and all but…he did just get suspended sooo what do you think about that? Dustin will miss the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup this year which are clearly the biggest events left on the schedule.

The PGA Tour made a short statement on the situation, courtesy of Golf Channel:

“We have nothing to add to Dustin’s statement. But wish him well and look forward to his return to the PGA Tour in the future.”

Thought that was enough? Well wait! There’s more! According to DeadSpin, Dj has been having sexual relationships with a couple of PGA Tour wives. Or “At least one”. Sounds like two or three to me! Here’s a small paragraph mentioning this in Golf.com’s piece:

Johnson’s conduct has long been a topic of conversation among close observers of the Tour. He is often seen in bars near his home in Jupiter, Fla., and is also known to have had a sexual indiscretion with at least one wife of a PGA Tour player.

And Robert Lusetich verified that it was indeed two wives he was messing around with:

Kinda makes you wonder who the women were. Who were their husbands? Popular players? Not so popular? Caddy(HUH?!)? It’s anybody’s guess but this is quite an interesting series of events.

Robert Lusetich had some more to say via his Twitter:

Shane Bacon of Yahoo Sports threw some humor into the situation and I so happen to agree with him:

He also had some warm thoughts as well:

And so do I. I hope nothing but the best for DJ and I think he made a very smart move of leaving golf to deal with these problems because most would just continue doing it instead of getting help. It makes you wonder though, he’s a wealthy PGA Tour golfer (Net Worth of $20 million), he’s one of the longest hitters on Tour, a very popular player, he’s with a woman that most men would love to date and he gets free travel to tournaments. He’s living the dream. He’s living a life that most people could only dream of and he’s using substances that most people use when they’re stressed or depressed to get away from reality.

There’s absolutely no reason why Dustin should be doing this stuff. If he was in certain situations like unfortunately some are, his body would be full of cocaine due to depression. He’s doing this with a wonderful life. I’m glad he made the right decision to seek out help because who knows how far this problem could have went if he just played it off. Get it together DJ! Drugs and having affairs with married women is NOT what life is all about. Take as much time off as you want because this is much bigger than golf.

UPDATE: New statement from the PGA Tour says Dustin Johnson is NOT suspended:

“With regard to media reports that Dustin Johnson has been been suspended by the PGA TOUR, this is to clarify that Mr. Johnson has taken a voluntary leave of absence and is not under a suspension from the PGA TOUR,”

Hmmm, makes you wonder, did the dude run out of balls or something? Because why in the world would you fish for golf balls when there’s a freaking alligator in the water?! I think the guy took the GolfSmith “Anything for golf” radio commercials too seriously but thankfully, everything is cool, and the gator was caught. Check out the pics below of the ferocious beast!

People take selfies with dogs all the time but this selfie Jason Dufner took with his dog Prince Louie is pretty awesome. Both Duf and Louie look like straight up badasses and there’s even a mysterious hand on Louie’s chest. You’d hope it’s his wife’s hand but who knows although why in the world would you cheat on one of the hottest wives in all of sports? Anyway, all kidding aside, this is a pretty cool picture. PHOTO: This Picture of the Alabama Golf Team Standing by the Capitol Building is Pretty Sweet

This is pretty cool. You normally see professional teams get this opportunity but for a college golf team to go to Washington D.C. after winning a championship is pretty cool and they took a very awesome picture by the Capitol building as well. The Alabama Crimson Tide were given this opporunity of a lifetime after defeating Illinois in the NCAA Championship for men’s golf and it is quite a journey for them after the California Golden Bears were the heavy favorites to win it all and in the end they ended beating an Illinois squad coached by possibly one of the best coaches in all of college sports in Mike Small. Below is the sweet pic of the Alabama squad standing in front of the Capitol building!

Elkington Makes Gay Joke About Sam on Twitter, PGA Tour Deletes Tweet, Makes Statement

Jeez, this dude just doesn’t stop does he? Guess who sent another inappropriate tweet again? Non other than the insane in the membrane loon himself, Steve Elkington who on Tuesday sent a tweet making a joke about ESPN’s coverage of University of Missouri defensive end and soon to be NFL draft pick Michael Sam who openly came out gay a couple of weeks ago. Elkington, of course deleted the tweet. You can read the tweet below.

elkington-michael-sam-tweet-02252014

Yahoo Sports’ Shane Bacon of the Devil Ball Golf blog spoke to Elkington about why he deleted the tweet. It was none other than the PGA Tour itself.

Elkington sent a tweet back to Shane Bacon saying how he’s rooting for Sam.

However, he sent another tweet that rubbed some of his followers the wrong way.

Bacon spoke to the PGA Tour about the situation and he tweeted out their official statement. Here’s the full statement from the PGA Tour on Elkington’s tweet – “Under our regulations, conduct unbecoming a professional includes public commentary that is clearly inappropriate or offensive. With respect to this matter, and consistent with our longstanding policy, we do not comment on player disciplinary matters.”

So now, Elkington’s taking heat from fans and now the PGA Tour on the situation. I’m personally very happy for Michael Sam and I hopes he gets drafted and enjoys a successful career in the NFL. In Elkington’s case, he’s just another dude in the line of big mouth golfers such as Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter and Rory Sabattini with Elkington probably being the biggest tool of all because only he isn’t afraid to say something very controversial, no matter how much heat he takes. Get your head out of your butt homie! You do realize that you have over 60,000 Twitter followers that read your stuff right?

PHOTOS: Augusta National’s Magnolia Lane Covered in Snow and Ice Due to Snow Storm but it’s Actually Quite an Amazing Sight

Augusta National is known for its awe-inspiring beauty that has influenced the lives of many golfers and fans for years and this year shouldn’t be any different. Magnolia Lane has long been the famous entry way to the most recognized clubhouse in all of golf and Magnolia has been around long before the Masters began in 1934 (Back then, it was the Augusta Invitational). However, on Thursday, there were some interesting pictures of this great road that were taken on Twitter by Kevin Faigle, Scott Michaux of the Augusta Chronicle, and the Weather Channel.

Weather Channel had some pretty amazing photos. One of a street in Augusta, GA effected by the snow storm and then another one shooting right down legendary Magnolia Lane through the fence.

Also, here’s another picture from back in January that’s absolutely gorgeous.

What makes this picture gorgeous is that it looks like the sun is shining on the sign as it sits in a winter wonderland.

So, what do you think of these pics? Perfect golf weather isn’t it? Let’s start the Masters RIGHT NOW. Come one everyone, let’s make a Facebook campaign to have the Masters tournament played right now with all the snow and ice! You know you want to! *nudge nudge*

Or…you could just wait until…spring.

The most important thing of course is to make sure everyone’s OK after the storm.

Ian Poulter and Steve Elkington Have a War of Words on Twitter

You want more nasty arguments? Well you got them! Ian Poulter and Steve Elkington had a bit of words towards each other on Twitter and it makes you wonder since both of these guys are quite expressive, who started it? Well, none other than Steve Elkington and it shouldn’t be a surprise. Sure, Poulter has his moments but Elkington is more of a tool in my personal opinion and has been known to say some crazy crap on Twitter and some tweets could just be either about football or he’s chatting with fellow PGA Tour pro Pat Perez. A fan had asked Elkington about Ian Poulter and Elkington responded of course and of course Poulter shot back which also isn’t surprise because as we know, Poulter isn’t afraid to give his opinion HOWEVER, he doesn’t seem quite like a tool like Elkington is. As I’ve written a bit earlier, Elkington went on Twitter and made fun of a helicopter crash that occurred in Scotland about a month ago and now he’s already back for more. The moment you’ve been waiting for. The tweets. Enjoy!

Even a fan stepped in and supported Poulter in the feud.
