Tiger Woods gets upset with fan after he yelled during his putting stroke

Tiger Woods made his return to PGA Tour action and would finish the Farmers Insurance Open at -5 on Sunday. However, there was a cringe-worthy moment, where a fan yelled “get in the hole” before Woods hit a putt.

As you would expect Woods was visibly upset, and fans reacted with a bunch of jeers towards the fan. Look, I’m all for making golf fun, and I’ll all for cheery fans, but cheer after the dude makes his putt (which obviously he didn’t).

We automatically think that, if a sport doesn’t have loud, cheering fans at all times then it’s viewed as boring, so those people may justify what the fan did. However, when there are great shots hit, and amazing putts drilled, golf fans can be among the best cheers in sports, especially with the new age of golf fandom nearly upon us.

The quiet moments when a player is about to hit a putt is one of the most heart-thumping moments in sports, more so when it’s on Sunday in a major. Let’s keep it that way as the silence seems to stop time as the predator (the golfer) gets ready to attack its prey (the hole).

Then, when the putt drops, cheer your head off. This may seem boring to some, but the silent moments make golf stand out.

That said, I’m all for anything else, as I feel that there are numerous ways to make golf cooler. The European Tour has already created a ton of amazing new events that millennials such as myself would enjoy and the PGA Tour has continued to make the sport next generation friendly and I love it.

I’d say, having more par-3 competitions, allowing music on the golf course during recreational rounds (within limits, as you want to make sure that everything is fair for those who don’t want music on the course), and some fresh new on-course swagger are among the many things we can see in golf.

We are already seeing the swagger thing, as golfers are rocking Jordans and wearing cool hats and such. Letting PGA Tour and LPGA Tour pros have their own first tee walk-up music would be cool as well, even if it’s just a small thing.

In short, there are a ton of great things that can be done to make the sport more generation-y friendly. One thing that should remain, are those heart-pounding moments of silence. Even if this was taken away down the road, I’ll always love golf, as I am not a conservative, but that said, there’s nothing in sports quite like those moments.

Tiger Woods almost gets hole in one in PGA Tour return at Torrey Pines

Tiger Woods is back once again, and he has been hitting some solid shots at the Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open. His best shot during the first round was a near ace on the 16th hole at Torrey.

He also hit some other great shots throughout the round. Nobody’s grasping for straws here, but to be able to nearly hole out after not playing PGA Tour golf in quite some time is not bad.

I don’t think he’s going to go out there and win tournaments, but I must say that this comeback is looking better so far. There’s still a lot of golf to go though so stay tuned.

Private Lessons with Tiger Woods cost an insane amount of money

Embed from Getty Images

Getting lessons from one of the greats comes at a very high price. A private lesson with Tiger Woods was auctioned off for $210,000 at a Hurricane Harvery fundraiser event.

Ironically, it took place at Bluejack National, Woods’ beautiful new golf course in Texas. The price of Woods’ lesson was a good thing, as it helped PGA Tour stars Chris Stroud and Billy Gates surpass their goal of $1 million.

Better yet, there was a tournament where golf legends such as Ben Crenshaw and Stacy Lewis took part in as well as current stars like Patrick Reed. Other celebrities present included T.J. Yates of the Houston Texans and NBA legend Clyde Drexler.

Thanks to the tournament and the auctioning of Tiger Woods’ lesson, the group was able to raise more than $1 million for the fundraiser. Golf, like many sports, can be used for some excellent causes, and this most definitely was one of them.

Salute!

Tiger Woods says there’s a chance he may never play competitive golf again

It’s an exciting time for golf as the President’s Cup is here again. However, some alarming news may have overshadowed the colorful team event as it relates to Tiger Woods, who is an assistant captain for team USA.

On Wednesday, when asked if he could visualize a scenario where he may never play competitive golf again, Woods gave a quick but surprising answer.

“Yeah, definitely,” Woods said according to Golf Digest. “I don’t know what my future holds for me”.

However, before the answer, Woods did mention some positive things. He mentioned that he was “feeling great” and “hitting the ball really straight” according to the Golf Digest.

So there are positives for Woods fans to come away with. However, his “yeah, definitely” response may make some fans gulp hard in fear.

If the end is truly near, then there’s plenty of reason to still be excited about Woods’ future. He has been quickly making a name for himself as a golf course designer so although he may not be dazzling fans with amazing putts anymore, he can delight fans with some artistic course designs.

My only hope is that he makes most of his courses public throughout his career. There are far too many private clubs and to have a couple of quality public courses designed by one of golf’s greatest “course readers” would be a treat for all.

Not only this, but Woods can become a great captain in future team events for the American team. He’s a “player’s player” so his team would rally behind him easily.

So, it’s not all doom and gloom Tiger fans. Besides, he still could return to play anyway. Just know it could be some time before he makes that return.

In the meantime, it’s cool to see him out there as an assistant captain at the President’s Cup. Lead captain Steve Stricker looks to help carry the American squad to their 11th President’s Cup title.

Tiger Woods, Lindsey Vonn nude photos leaked, both will take legal action

Hackers are the worst and are digital menaces to society. Unfortunately, Tiger Woods and ex-girlfriend, Ski star Lindsey Vonn have got attacked by the hack monster after some nude photos were leaked between the two.

Woods and Vonn are looking to take legal action against a website that posted the photos, according to Golf Digest. If the site doesn’t remove the pictures, Woods’ lawyer is threatening to sue.

First, Woods was arrested for a DUI, and now, his leaked photos are out there. Not to mention, his struggles on the course pile on top of everything else.

Let this show that, hackers flat out suck. They get pleasure out of making others’ lives miserable. Keep that info protected on your devices, everyone.

Tiger Woods Shoots Worst Score of Professional Career

hc-tiger-woods-82-worst-score-0130-20150130-001

It seems that Tiger Woods has been missing his share of cuts in the last year plus. He once again missed the cut at the popular Waste Management Phoenix Open after shooting an 11-over 82, the worst round of golf of his entire legendary career.

According to USA Today, this is only the second time Tiger’s ever shot a score in the 80’s. The other time was during the Open Championship in 2002, a time when he was just coming off his famous “Tiger Slam” where he nearly one all four majors in a row.

The first round went OK as he went 2-over and finished with a 73. Then things went downhill from there as he is now 13-over for the tournament as mentioned, has missed the cut.

Tiger hasn’t played in this tournament since 2001 mind you. So, you know their could be an unfamiliarity with the course after not being there in so long.

Thing is, I think he’s focusing too much on his swing rather than course management. I honestly think reading the design of a golf course is what wins tournaments or at least puts you in contention.

I’ve said several times before that I think we will see Tiger win more tournaments and probably one major. I just don’t see him breaking Jack Nicklaus’ record.

It happens to all great athletes. Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all-time and was a prolific scorer. However, he’s fourth all-time in scoring.

Same thing with Tiger, he’ll be known as the one of the all-time greats despite not breaking the record. A lot will say that he is still the greatest of all-time.

I think he’s hit a lot of shots that Jack could never hit. However, Jack, in my opinion is still the greatest of all-time unless Tiger does tie or break his major record.

I think the the reason why so many people believe Tiger’s the greatest is because of the speed at which he’s won his tournaments. Also, as I’ve mentioned, some of the unbelievable shots he’s hit make him stand out to some.

It’ll be interesting to see how he fares the rest of the way. With this not so good of a performance at the Phoenix Open, it’ll just peak our curiosity more and more moving forward this season.

Tiger Woods Ends Relationship With Coach Sean Foley, Will go Coachless

Well, this almost came out of the clear blue sky. According to his official website, Tiger Woods has ended a four year relationship with his swing coach Sean Foley. This was his third coach after Butch Harmon and Hank Haney.

It’s interesting because although he wasn’t playing top of the line golf like he used to, he still won Player of the Year honors last year. That’s why it’s surprising because maybe Tiger thought things were going to click eventually.

Unfortuantely, Tiger has dealt with injuries all year. Tiger will go without a coach for now. Here’s his statement from his website:

“I’d like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship,” Woods said. “Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him. With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.”
“My time spent with Tiger is one of the highlights of my career so far, and I am appreciative of the many experiences we shared together,” Foley said. “It was a lifelong ambition of mine to teach the best player of all time in our sport. I am both grateful for the things we had the opportunity to learn from one another, as well as the enduring friendship we have built. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him.”
“Presently, I do not have a coach, and there is no timetable for hiring one,” added Woods.

Very curious to see how Tiger does without a coach. This is a first for his career. Tiger has always had a coach. Most golfers do. It’s possible he may have another coach before he even gets back out there however. You just never know!

Picture: Man creates Tiger Woods statue made of golf balls

Kevin Pingel, a man from Iowa who lives on a golf course, has been playing golf since he was a child. Since he lives on a course, he would collect errant shots from other golfers if the balls landed on his property. He decided to use the balls to make a statue of what appears to be a golfer in the middle of his backswing. His friends urged him to do so last November and the result would be this:

According to Kevin, it’s suppose to be a statue of Tiger Woods. Although it doesn’t look like Tiger, that is an unbelievable effort and looks quite cool. Here’s a comparison with Kevin’s statue and Tiger.

Well done Kevin, keep up the golf ball collecting sir! I should hit some on your property on purpose just so you can collect them and make mini statues for all of my lovely readers!

Tiger Woods Might Be Focused More on Money Than Prestige as He is Urged to ‘Respect’ the WGC-HSBC Champions

Tiger-Woods_9

The WGC-HSBC Champions tournament has been quite a popular one and golf’s biggest star hasn’t played in the event in a couple of years. Instead, Tiger Woods has decided to play in exhibitions that offered solid payouts. HSBC’s sponsorship chief has urged Woods to respect the bank’s large investment in the tournament and play the event this year instead of “meaningless money-making opportunities”. HSBC’s global head of sponsorship Giles Morgan said that the bank had “had words” with the different golf tours about impressing on players the importance of appearing at the sport’s biggest events according to Yahoo Sports.

“I do think the tours — and I think the tours are working on this — should make sure that there is respect to the tournaments,” Morgan said in an interview in Singapore according to Yahoo Sports.

“As opposed to playing in meaningless… money-making opportunities around the World Golf Championships (WGC).”

Morgan also added: “It’s up to the tours to enforce the criteria to their membership. And we’ve expressed our position to the tours, which is that we know they can’t enforce their players to play and that’s fine, we understand that.

“But we do think that players need to be respectful of… these major events (which) are really at the top and the pinnacle and the lifeblood of the sport.”

So, this situation feels like it can go both ways. Yes, it’s kind of disrespectful to not play in a golf tournament that people work hard to put together but at the same time, the golfers can do whatever they want. HSBC gets plenty of golfers to their tournament but I understand that this is Tiger Woods we’re talking about and the more Woods is in the tournament, the more boost the tournament gets. The question is, why hasn’t Woods been playing in this tournament? Is it a money issue? Because if it truly is then that’s a shame on Woods’ part since the man just earned over a billion dollars for his career. However, could it be a greed thing on HSBC”s part as well? Or do they really want more players to play to help bring more fans to the event? The tournament is already highly popular but I guess I can kind of see the frustration from Morgan.

I’d too be wondering why a player of Woods caliber would play in any other tournament but mine but not in a selfish way but in a sense of “Man, am I doing something wrong with this tournament?”. Mr. Morgan should probably chill out though I mean, Woods is only one golfer out of the several that join the tournament plus, the HSBC Champions is still one of the bigger tournaments in the world so he should just let it go. Besides, it’s only been a two-year absence so I don’t really see the big deal but it can honestly go both ways considering Woods was taking part in supposedly “meaningless opportunities”. Again, if Woods was missing out on the HSBC because of money and nothing else then he should be very ashamed of himself as he is easily one of the richest people on earth. So, what do you guys think? Is Tiger Woods losing respect for the HSBC Champions? Is Giles Morgan over reacting to the situation? Maybe Morgan’s comments are kind of knock to the players who are committed to the event? Who knows, but please leave your comments below on this situation!
