598-yard par 5.@JustinThomas34‘s drive …

Does anything Justin Thomas does surprise you anymore? Well, the major champion just added another title to his resume after winning the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, but it was what he did on Saturday that raised some eyebrows.
On the par-5 12th at Nine Bridges Golf Club, Thomas blasted a drive 461 yards. However, the ball landed on the cart path which is why it went so far.
Nonetheless, his power helped the ball get that extra push, as the ball looked as if it were going to roll forever before finally stopping. Sure, the ball bounced off the cart path, but if it wasn’t hit as hard, it likely wouldn’t roll on the fairway the way it did.
Thomas once again proved why he’s arguably the best all-around player in the game right now. Despite his solid ball-striking and clutch putting, we can always recognize JT for his brute power, and it was on display once again as he captured yet another PGA Tour title.
Yeah, he’s pretty good, don’t you think?

Justin Thomas is having the best year of his life playing golf, winning five times, shooting a 59 and winning his first major title at the PGA Championship. He may also grab the Player of the Year award, but he can also grab the Swaggiest Golfer of the Year award too (yes, I made that up), thanks to his cool new shoes that he will rock at the President’s Cup.
Michelle Wie, one of golf’s biggest characters, gave the red hot kicks to Thomas as a gift. This is fitting since Thomas is slowly, but surely becoming more known for his style of dress, similarly to Rickie Fowler is golf’s go-to guy in the fashion department.
In particular, Thomas wore a cardigan at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, which was a cool way to give a nod to the golfers of yesteryear. There’s no other major that contributes to the history of the game like The Open as we know, which will soon be the final major of the year, starting in 2019.
Bravo to Michelle Wie. If there’s a girl who has a little swagger in golf, it’s Wie, and she delivered (literally) some dope kicks to Thomas. Get ready to witness all the country colors at the President’s Cup, under the watchful eye of the Statue Liberty.
With both team USA and International team rosters loaded with talent, this one should be a straight up doozy. Prepare for battle.

An eagle … for 59 … BANG!

Just a week after winning the SBS Tournament of Champions, Justin Thomas shoots a 59 at the Sony Open. Yes, that’s right, as the avalanche of young golfing talent continues to grow.
Thomas becomes the fifth player in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59. The only others to do so are Jim Furyk, Paul Goydos, David Duval and Stuart Appleby.
I would also like to mention that, after that last paragraph, my word count was at ’59’. Whoa.
But Thomas has been playing like a beast so far. Between he and Hedeki Matsuyama, there are simply no two guys hotter this early in the fresh new season.
If yet, another 59 isn’t an indication of how good golfers continue to get, then I don’t know what is. Plus, guys like Thomas are a lot of fun to follow on social media which is great for the younger audiences.
At one point, it seemed like we only had two or three players that were very good. Now, it feels like we have a thousand, and Thomas and Matsuyama can be added to the list.

Hope you’re keeping warm this holiday season and are dreaming about those wondrous rounds of golf. However, with the college football season wrapping up, and the college basketball season well underway, I thought this was absolutely fitting.
While showing some highlights of young PGA Tour star Justin Thomas, the clever minds of Skratch TV put the amazing pipes of Gus Johnson over them. A tweet by Thomas himself wishing that Johnson covered golf and broadcasted his rounds fueled this beautifully produced clip.
One part that had my dying in laughter was at the 34 second mark. A simple toss of the golf ball to Thomas turned into a wild call from Johnson and the crowd going bonkers. That was hysterical.
Christmas is a great chance to talk about golf, even in the off-season. Nothing brings everyone together quite like golf and Christmas, and I hope this clip from Skratch can make your face light up with glee.
Because remember, even when things seem down, there is always something that will bring a smile to our faces. Golf is one of those wonderful gifts that we can always be appreciated of this holiday season.
So, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you and yours a very happy and safe Merry Christmas. May your golf dreams come true and just be careful where you swing that shiny new wedge of yours!

During an interview at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Maui, Rookie of the Year runner-up (Although many say he was robbed) Justin Thomas would rather win a Ryder Cup than a major championship.
The second year pro won his first tournament last year at the CIMB Classic, defeating possible future hall of famer, Adam Scott. In four major opportunities last year, Thomas only made the cut once.
In an interview that I had did a couple of years ago, Kenny Perry said that he too preferred the Ryder Cup over the major championships. Proof, that the Ryder Cup might be a little more important than you think.
We’ll see how the fun unfolds at Hazeltine later this year but obviously, you and I both are very excited about the majors this year.
Good to have you back golf!
