This made me laugh big time. Remember when young up and comer Patrick Reed said he was a “top five” player in the world? Well, one of the more ironic things you’ll ever see happened at the RBC Heritage. Reed hit a golf shot in a hazard that’s located next to a boat named “Top Five”. Here’s a pic of the boat.
Yes, there’s a video too!
So, there you go! Now, I’m not sure if this is a sign that Reed WILL become a top five player or the boat is just making fun of him at laughing at his face. Probably the second choice.

John, John, John! Always doing some of the most craziest things in golf! In the video below, he tees off of chick’s mouth. This definitely makes Playboy look pretty stupid! As usual, JD crushed the tee shot like only he can and was very accurate. The funny part though was after it was done when the woman ran to the gentleman that was crouching and hugged him as if to say “OH MY GOD! IT’S OVVEERRR!”. Well, at least JD is a professional golfer although he hasn’t won a tournament in 10 years. He does have two majors though! Typical John Daly! Below is the video, thanks to Shane Bacon of Devil Ball Golf for sharing!

The Masters is here and the Par-3 contest has completed. Many golfers were out playing with their wives and girlfriends as well as bringing their children out for a fun day at Augusta. Rory Mcilroy of course brought girlfriend and tennis superstar Caroline Wozniacki as his caddy and she quite the matching look. She was rocking what looks to be redish-pinkish shoes while also doing the same with her hair and you know what, it looks pretty good on her.
As always, leave your thoughts in the comments!

Paulina Gretzky’s Golf Digest cover has gotten a crazy amount of national attention with a lot of people, specifically women, were furious at the cover since Gretzky isn’t a golfer but is however married to a golfer in Dustin Johnson. This cover has gotten so much attention that there were parodies of the cover and you can see them below but please, view at your own risk! Don’t want you to get blind by all the disturbance!
Well, although I rather see Amanda Balionis on the cover (Oooh wee!), Paulina is DEFINTIELY better than looking at those dudes! They made me laugh though!

Legendary and well-respected broadcaster Verne Lundquist was on the Boers and Bernstein show on WSCR 670 The Score in Chicago on Monday April 7th and he talked to Dan (Bernstein) and Terry (Boers) about his legendary career as well as the college basketball season and The Masters. When asked if he thinks that today’s field of golfers are as good as Tiger’s field at his peak, Verne responded with “Oh my gosh, yes!”. Verne has done Masters broadcasts for 30 years so that’s a strong statement for someone who’s seen Tiger, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Billy Casper and others play in golf’s extremely rich history.
“These guys don’t fear Tiger”, Verne said.
That’s one statement almost everyone’s said and I agree with everything he said. I definitely think this is one of the toughest fields of golf we’ve seen in a long time. There’s a lot more rockstar’s in the field now than before. Back in Tiger’s peak, who was really popular besides Phil? Now, we have guys like Bubba Watson, Rory Mcilroy, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Speith and other great players who are very popular. Heck, even Adam Scott, who’s been on Tour for years now is playing the best golf of his life.
So this leaves a question. If Tiger was at the peak of his prime right around this era, would he win as many majors? Would he be the dominate figure that we all know today? Would there be as many Tiger Woods bandwagon jumpers today? What would it have been like? I know people who really love Tiger don’t want to hear this but it’s an interesting thing to think about. It’s very possible that he wouldn’t have won 14 majors in this era. Not with all of these talented young players and great veterans in the field. He would win majors, but not 14.
Verne also went on to say that there really isn’t a favorite for The Masters and that ANYBODY can win. That’s how strong the field’s been in the last few years and it really is amazing. It’s not like the past where you had a good feeling as to who was going to win but now the field is wide open. Some even say Bubba could win another one and it wouldn’t shock me with his power and incredible recovery ability giving him the nickname “Master of Escape”. Despite that, the field is still wide open and that’s why this year’s Masters is going to be a blast and that’s why it’s going to be a blast for years to come.
Welcome to The Masters my friends.

The latest Golf Digest cover stirred some controversy with Dustin Johnson’s fiance Paulina Gretzky rocking the cover posing with a golf club in yoga pants. Gretzky is also the daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and came to fame when she started taking selfies of herself on Twitter although she was apparently already doing some modeling. There were angered LPGA Tour players that showed their disgust about the cover.
two time major winner and former world no.1 Stacy Lewis on the cover according to Karen Krause of the New York times: “It’s frustrating for female golfers. It’s kind of the state of where we’ve always been. We don’t get respect for being the golfers that we are. Obviously, Golf Digest is trying to sell magazines. But at the same time you’d like to see a little respect for the women’s game.”
Hall of fame Juli Inkster on the cover also according to Karen Krause: “It’s frustrating because it’s Golf Digest; it’s not Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue,” Inkster said, adding: “I think they should maybe recognize some of the great women golfers that we have. It’s like, What do you have to do to get a little respect? I’m guaranteeing you right now, it was not a woman editor who chose that cover.”
Even Inbee Park who I have mad respect for and is one of my favorite players now after she absolutely terrorized, destroyed and back-handed the golf world last season after nearly becoming the first golf ever to win all four majors in a year. She ended up with three. She simply said when asked about the cover, “Who’s that”? according to Karen Krause. “That’s just been the way it is for over 20, 30 years.” Inbee said shrugging.
And now, even the LPGA Commisoner stepped up and made a statement about the cover. This, from LPGA.com:
“Obviously we’re disappointed and frustrated by the editorial direction (and timing) Golf Digest has chosen with the announcement of its most recent magazine cover.
If a magazine called Golf Digest is interested in showcasing females in the game, yet consistently steers away from the true superstars who’ve made history over the last few years, something is clearly wrong.
Inbee Park wins 3-straight major championships in 2013. Stacy Lewis, in 2012, becomes the first American to win Rolex Player of the Year since 1994. Lexi Thompson and Lydia Ko set historical benchmarks while blossoming as the Tour’s youngest ever champions. And evidently, not one has been “cover worthy” for Golf Digest. “Growing the game” means a need for more role models and in these exciting times for women’s golf, the LPGA is overflowing with them.
At this point, I’m done talking about it and I hope the attention of the media and fans will shift in the proper direction. The true stars representing women’s golf have a grand stage this weekend at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. I’m confident that the year’s first major championship will result in another compelling champion and the traditional Sunday leap into Poppie’s Pond will grab the media spotlight it so deserves.”
Those were the words of LPGA Tour commissioner Mike Whan.
So, what’s your thoughts on the commish’ statement? Do you agree? Disagree? In my opinion, I could agree with it but at the same time, Kate Upton was on a recent cover of Golf Digest too (She fine yo) although she was with Arnold Palmer. Also, like Inbee said, stuff like this has been going for years so why complain about it now? It can go either way at this point but in general, I definitely think the LPGA needs some more love because it’s a great tour with great players but that’s just a general statement. Leave your thoughts on this controversial story below! This should be fun.

Is it too late to cancel Masters picks? Tiger Woods will miss the Masters for the first time in his unbelievable career and the Masters has been a landmark tournament for Woods as it was where he won his first major back in 1997. According to Yahoo Sports, Tiger underwent a microdiscectomy for a pinched nerve on Monday. Woods said that the microdiscectomy was successful but will take a few weeks to fully recover making a Masters appearance out of the question.
“After attempting to get ready for the Masters, and failing to make the necessary progress, I decided, in consultation with my doctors, to have this procedure done,” Woods said according to Yahoo Sports.
“It also looks like I’ll be forced to miss several upcoming tournaments to focus on my rehabilitation and getting healthy … this is frustrating, but it’s something my doctors advised me to do for my immediate and long-term health.”
it seems like we’ve seen players drop like flies lately. First, Tiger, then Jason Day, then Bubba Watson and then Phil. What’s going on this year? Will anyone else withdraw from the Masters? He’s had some of his best finishes at the Masters and Augusta is one of his favorite courses in the world (Well, who wouldn’t think that?) so this is quite a blow for the sport and for Tiger. However, there’s a lot of positives as well. Although, you hope that the man is okay, this gives us a chance to view the Masters and a whole other level, introducing us to possible surprises and the spotlight won’t be all over Tiger. Again, I hope he gets well but at the same time this gives other players a chance to shine on arguably golf’s biggest stage with only the Ryder Cup possibly being more prestigious. I think it makes things more interesting now. Below is another quote from Tiger that may shock you.
“There are a couple [of] records by two outstanding individuals and players that I hope one day to break. As I’ve said many times, Sam and Jack reached their milestones over an entire career. I plan to have a lot of years left in mine.” Woods said according to Yahoo Sports.
Obviously he’s talking about Sam Snead’s all-time career wins mark and Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major championships.
He’ll surpass Slammin Sammy Snead’s record easily but I feel at this point that there’s almost no way he’ll break Jack’s record. he needs four majors to tie and five to break it. It’s anything but impossible at this point. I mean, people are wondering if he’ll ever win another major period so how would he get five? I feel that he’ll at least have a shot at winning another major before his career’s over but not five. When you can’t play in a tournament that you’ve played in every year, you know that’s not a good sign. He’ll win tournaments, absolutely will maybe even a major but I can’t see him breaking that record. Tiger’s last major title was at the 2008 U.S. Open at another course he loves dearly in Torrey Pines where he and Rocco Mediate put on a show for the ages and is widely regarded as one of the greatest performances in golf history the way they were battling.
Phil Mickelson might not make the Masters either however according to Yahoo Sports. What the heck is going on out there?! Tiger, Phil, who’s next?!

OK, Kevin Na infamously plays slow and people bitch about it. I like Kevin Na, I think he’s a good player and is usually a very dangerous putter. I understand that you should play faster but I wouldn’t open my big mouth about it like some players do. Golf gets more complaints about things then any other sport and I’d be surprised if there’s a sport that challenges that and the latest complaint about Kevin’s slow play is an example of that. I’d say let the officials tell him he’s going slow. You, as the player need to shut up and hit the your shot. If the officials don’t notice that then there needs to be better officiating. These fans showed support for the slower playing Na as they rocked shirts that said “Kevin Na, worth the wait”. Pretty cool to show support for one of the best putters in all of golf.

For the second time in his career, Tiger Woods has a bluging disk according to legendary golf writer Jeff Rude of GolfWeek. Fortunately for Woods, he will not need surgery and the Masters is not out of the question according to someone with knowledge of the injury. Woods had already withdrew from the Arnold Palmer invitational after suffering back spasms. Now he has a bulging disk once again. The last time he had a bulging disk, popular golf reporter Win Mcmurry accidentally said “bulging d*ck” instead of “bulging disk” which led to many people saying things like “Ohh, she wants the D!” while some were impressed that she kept going but she is one of the best so it wasn’t a surprise that she handled it like a pro.
Although Rude says that someone with knowledge of the injury had said that it could have been worse, it still adds to the numerous injuries he’s had. Rude also mentions that Woods had said that the knee which had been surgically repaired four times s much different from the back issues. He mentions that Woods said that he feels the back pain during the swing and the knee pain after the swing.
With his knee still bothering him and now back problems although he doesn’t need surgery, it makes you kind of wonder, are we close to the end of an era? His ultra glory days have been gone but he did win five tournaments last year. Is the success of the second half of his career coming to end as well? He’ll win tournaments before 50 but will we see him win multiple tournaments in a year again? Only time will tell but if you’re having knee problems and back problems at the young age of 38 then that’s usually not a good sign. His youth is what’s going to help him at best. Despite his golf injuries, he’s a healthy young dude but withdrawing from two tournaments in the young PGA Tour season when you’re the best golfer in the world is not a good thing for several reasons.
Will he even be able to play the Masters this year? This is the one thing that many people have been wondering and has been a hot topic of choice. The Masters will be fantastic with or without Woods with so much young talent and returning veterans on the course but The Masters is where Woods name stands out the most. It was where he won his very first major back in 1997, he hit one of the best shots in golf history there in 2005. The Masters is where he left the biggest impact. Let’s hope that he recovers from the bulging disk but it’s pretty clear to say that we’ve probably seen the last of a great era in the sport of golf.
Good thing for Tiger fans is, he’ll be on the PGA Tour for at least another 12 to 13 years before joining the Champions Tour and he’ll still have a huge impact on the sport even if he never wins another tournament which is highly unlikely. The great thing for the sport is that there is so much young talent coming up and great golfers coming out of top college golf programs like Alabama, California, Illinois, and Oklahoma State. Plus, remember, the Tour still has Rory Mcilroy. Although he’s had some problems as of late, he’s still very young so he has time to turn it around. Let’s see what happens with Tiger and the other players as Masters week is nearly in our reach.

More bad news for the world’s best golfer. Tiger woods withdrew from the Arnold Palmer Invitational due to issues in his back according to Fox Sports. He withdrew after 13 holes.
“I personally called Arnold today to tell him that, sadly, I won’t be able to play in his tournament this year,” Woods said on his website according to FOX Sports.
This is around the same time Jason Day also withdrew from the tournament after a thumb injury. This leaves us with many questions. Will he ever catch Jack Nicklaus? Will he even one another major? With the Masters just three weeks away, will he be healthy enough to play at Augusta?
“It’s too early to know about the Masters, and I will continue to be evaluable and work closely with my doctors,” Woods said according to FOX. “I feel badly that I won’t be able to play in this great tournament this week.”
If he does play in the Masters this year then I honestly don’t think he has a chance. He already withdrew once from the Honda Classic and now he withdrew from a tournament that he won eight times as a pro. That’s a big problem since it’s a tournament that he’s so familiar with. I honestly feel that the sunset will be setting for Tiger sometime. He’ll still win tournaments but I don’t know if I believe he’ll win another major and I don’t think he’ll catch Jack. He already left a magnificent legacy though because as soon as he hits 40, he’ll be in the hall of fame in a heartbeat.
Now, some people may say I’m a “Tiger hater” because I don’t think he’ll catch Jack but let’s be honest. True golf fans don’t call people “Tiger haters” or “Rory haters”, etc. True golf fans will give you a legit reason why Tiger may or may not win another major or catch Jack’s record. So to all of you real golf fans out there, you’re all amazing and I love you. My main reason why he might not win another major is simply because of the injuries he’s had plus he’s not the dominant figure he was back in the day. The same goes for any athlete in that situation. It’s not Tiger’s fault, it’s just kind of bad timing. The only thing we can really do is see how well he recovers and see if he’ll be able to play in this year’s Masters. Best of luck to both Tiger and Jason on their recoveries.
