WATCH: This duel between a snake and mongoose on a golf course is crazy

It’s wild over here. Gr8 being an oncourser. Courtesy of @bennytails #nature #rawnature #watchyourstep #snake #mongoose #suncity #africa #europeantour

A post shared by Andrew Coltart (@andrewcoltart) on

One thing about playing golf is that you’re playing out in nature. That nature was on full display in South Africa during the Nedbank Challenge.

A snake that appears to be a cobra, one of the most dangerous animals on earth, takes on a speedy mongoose. The mongoose toys with the snake as the snake attempt to snap at him.

The mongoose’s speed is too much, as it runs around the snake teasingly. There’s no doubt that we wanted to take a bite out of the snake but probably knows that one bite from the snake could be swift and fatal.

In the end, there was no true winner, but the mongoose’s amazing ability to tease the snake might have gave him the edge as the winner. The mongoose took a “float like a butterfly, sting a like a bee” approach, minus the sting.

Well played you two! Just know that I’ll stay far away the next time I tee it up.

WATCH: Charl Schwartzel hits full golf shot from hotel balcony

Practicing @golfatsun @europeantour #ngc2017

A post shared by Charlschwartzel (@charlschwartzel) on

Charl Schwartzel has had a terrific career, winning 15 times worldwide, including his amazing Masters victory in 2011. Hee can add another little achievement to his list; hitting a golf shot from his hotel room balcony.

Who needs a driving range anyway? Schwartzel did this during the Nedbank Golf Challenge and, as expected, nailed it to perfection.

Hitting from rooms in homes, and hotel rooms seem to be the hit new thing. Maybe more hotels should have more golf friendly rooms?

I can see it now. You’ll have your usual smoke friendly and non-smoker friendly rooms, and then you’ll have the golf-friendly rooms. The golf happy room could feature a balcony with a lower railing so it can be easier to hit shots.

There also could be a hidden cap somewhere on the floor where, if you lift it up, it will become a golf cup for you to putt your heart out. Of course, this all would never happen, plus I’m only joking anyway (well, the putting idea may still be cool though).

Since I’ll never be as accurate as Charl, I would never try such a shot. I think I’ll just stick with the ol’ putty buddy (putter). Hotel hallway putting contest anyone?

WATCH: Justin Thomas hits massive 461-yard drive at CJ Cup

Does anything Justin Thomas does surprise you anymore? Well, the major champion just added another title to his resume after winning the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, but it was what he did on Saturday that raised some eyebrows.

On the par-5 12th at Nine Bridges Golf Club, Thomas blasted a drive 461 yards. However, the ball landed on the cart path which is why it went so far.

Nonetheless, his power helped the ball get that extra push, as the ball looked as if it were going to roll forever before finally stopping. Sure, the ball bounced off the cart path, but if it wasn’t hit as hard, it likely wouldn’t roll on the fairway the way it did.

Thomas once again proved why he’s arguably the best all-around player in the game right now. Despite his solid ball-striking and clutch putting, we can always recognize JT for his brute power, and it was on display once again as he captured yet another PGA Tour title.

Yeah, he’s pretty good, don’t you think?

WATCH: Tiger Woods swings driver, shows progress

The Tiger Woods recovery watch is in “full swing” and he is showing it with another clip of him working on his game. This time, he pulled out the big stick, hitting driver in what looks like a promising start to a return.

The interesting thing is that it seems like his backswing is a little bit shorter than usual. Maybe it’s just me since we haven’t seen Woods play in a while, let alone see him hit driver.

This video is his most important yet, and that’s because the driver is arguably the toughest club to hit in the bag. On top of that, power is arguably his best skill. So for him to be out there hitting the big stick is a good look for Tiger fans.

If he keeps doing what he’s doing then it wouldn’t shock me if he was ready to go by the time The Masters starts in April. It’s clear that he can swing, but can he hit putts?

I’m sure this is something he will show in another video. Since he’s had a slew of clips, there’s no doubt one for putting may be next.

It is putting that is the game changer in golf. Being able to hit big putts late in rounds is huge, and Woods is one of cluthest putters of all-time.

Obviously, putting is extremely unpredictable, because each course presents different challenges on the greens. That’s just the beauty of golf course design.

Overall though, it’s been interesting seeing Woods’ Twitter clips, as it’s giving us a quick look at how he’s progressing. As the PGA Tour season starts to heat up again in January, it’ll be interesting to see where he’s at. Who knows, maybe a surprise return is in the works.

WATCH: Greatest press conference ever takes place at President’s Cup

The U.S. team defeated the International team in dominating fashion at the President’s Cup at Liberty National Golf Club. In the end, they celebrated one of the most lopsided victories in sports history.

This included Charley Hoffman smoking a cigar like a boss, Dustin Johnson dancing, and an epic press conference. This press conference may be the greatest in the history of golf.

This isn’t just a golf writer overreacting, this presser was genuinely hilarious. You can watch the full conference above, but here are some of the awesome highlights.

Players were singing some of their favorite songs chanted by fans. Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson had fun with a “track” that was created for Si Woo Kim.

Si Woo didn’t “shake that thang” but he did do the “Patrick Reed Shush” on Sunday. Despite being down by a lot, I still thought he did it better. Kim I felt did it with a little mor swagger than Reed, but hey, that’s jsut me.

Back to the “press conference”, Dustin Johnson is recorded doing the “Si Woo dance”.

And let’s finish things off with probably my favorite; Matt Kuchar teasing Phil Mickelson.

So there you have it! A dominating performance by the American team ends with one of the best press conferences you’ll ever see.

As we sunset the President’s Cup, let’s look forward to the Ryder Cup at Le National Golf Club in 2018. There’s nothing like team golf, and we already know the Ryder Cup will be super dope.

WATCH: Wesley Bryan plays ridiculously fast round of golf

Wesley Bryan is a man known for his amazing trick shot abilities as one-half of the Bryan Bros duo. He’s also a winner on the PGA Tour winning the RBC Heritage but now, his tricky skills have come back into the spotlight.

During the final round of the BMW Championship, Bryan blazed through Conway Farms, completing his 18-hole round in one hour and 29 minutes (!!). He can be seen jogging around the course and his caddie would just toss him clubs to swing instead of Bryan going through the bag himself.

He was playing solo too, which is a reason why he was able to accomplish this. Probably the most amazing thing is, he shot a 69 even after going that fast.

An average 18 hole round would normally take four to five hours. Bryan just sliced that number up with a double-edged sword.

There is an actual variation of the sport, called “Speed Golf”. Maybe it’s time to sign Bryan up for a speed golf tournament?

WATCH: You have to see this lady’s crazy but powerful swing

Unorthodox swings are a common thing in golf, and in a way, adds to the charm of the sport. No two swings are alike.

One woman takes that to heart, with a swing that is very unusual, yet effective and powerful. Web.com Tour pro Steve Wheatcroft caught the moment and shared it on Twitter during the Albertson Boise Open Pro-Am.

She brings her back foot back on her backswing (say that fast three times) like she’s winding up. She keeps that foot back there on her follow through, as she extends her hands forward as if she’s reaching for the ball. She connects and hits a beautiful shot.

The ball would go well over 200 yards. This showcases the power of this unique swing.

There are many golfers who have had success with their own, self-taught swings. Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is the most popular name that comes to mind.

No doubt that if she participates in any more tournaments, she’ll definitely get some extra attention from competitors and any spectators. Swings like this is a great example of how unique golf is because everything is different, whether it’s swings, courses, clothing, etc, every aspect is unique in its own way.

Go get it, girl.

WATCH: Justin James goes bonkers after winning World Long Drive title

Justin James was a man of few words during post match interviews at the Volvik World Long Drive Championship. The no.3 player in the world woke up after realizing he won the championship belt that’s awarded to winners. After defeating Mitch Grassing in the finals, James went bananas after his winning drive.

He grabbed the belt, ran with it, dropped, and then leaped like a cat into the stands, where he embraced hugs with his family. During his post match interview with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz, he had a lot more to say than previously as the sigh of relief consumed him. He was so ecstatic, he gave a shout out to his “super hot wife” as she looked in slight embarrassment.

There’s no doubt Justin James is the happiest man in the world. To go from being all business to becoming the “Snapping Turtle” (his nickname) shows that inner excitement. He didn’t have to do much either, as Grassing, unfortunately never kept his shot in the grid on all eight tries. WIth four balls to go, James was the mailman, and he delivered the package, with a moon shot that soared over 420 yards.

If there’s one way, to end a long drive competition, that’s one way to do it. On the women’s side, Sandra Carlborg captured her fifth title, becoming only the second long driver ever to accomplish this (the great Jason Zuback is the other). She made a case for becoming the greatest long driver of all-time.

Well played you two, and nice celebration Mr. James.

WATCH: Long driver snaps his club during Volvik World Long Drive Championship

The golfers in the world of Long Drive are something special to watch. Sure, there are some haters out there, but the effortless power and the unique swings make it quite the spectacle.

Wes Patterson, who has shocked everyone by upsetting the two best long drivers in the world in Maurice Allen and Ryan Reisbeck in the Volvik World Long Drive Championship. He also has a beautiful swing, but that artistic swing shattered his club into two, hitting a fan.

The fan is fine and may have gotten a little souvenir. So the unranked Patterson has already had his share of highlights.

He also seems to be one of, if not the nicest guy in long drive which is saying a lot, because most of those guys and girls are very respectful and humble despite their intimidating nature. Golf fans may have a new fan favorite in Patterson, but let’s just hope that the next time a club snaps, that it doesn’t fly into the crowd.

That was a close one. Phew.

WATCH: Tiger Woods practices his short game with chip shots

Tiger Woods has been on a quite a roller coaster ride since his last major championship at the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. Now, the 14-time major champ looks to make another return to golf after he shared a video on Twitter of him working on his short game, hitting chip shots.

His doctor gave him the OK, which means we will likely see Woods in competitive action again soon. Even with the rapidly growing popularity of Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama and Justin Thomas among others, a legend such as Woods returning to the game would just add to the purity of what surrounds the sport today.

What makes this interesting is, Woods won’t be the top dog when he returns, but instead, will be chasing players who likely idolized him growing up. Although Spieth has mentioned that the great Adam Scott was his favorite player growing up, some of the other young guns were inspired by Woods.

As I may have said before, although Woods isn’t the same player he once was, having him in tournaments will richen the depth of the field. Having veterans such as Woods, Scott, Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson and Sergio Garcia all playing along with the new breed is a nice blend to have in golf.

Not to mention you had a fun duel between Spieth and Matt Kuchar at The Open Championship back in July. That was a prime example of how the young bloods and experienced pros can come together to play some amazing golf.

Keep on hitting those chips Tiger.
