An eagle … for 59 … BANG!

Just a week after winning the SBS Tournament of Champions, Justin Thomas shoots a 59 at the Sony Open. Yes, that’s right, as the avalanche of young golfing talent continues to grow.
Thomas becomes the fifth player in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59. The only others to do so are Jim Furyk, Paul Goydos, David Duval and Stuart Appleby.
I would also like to mention that, after that last paragraph, my word count was at ’59’. Whoa.
But Thomas has been playing like a beast so far. Between he and Hedeki Matsuyama, there are simply no two guys hotter this early in the fresh new season.
If yet, another 59 isn’t an indication of how good golfers continue to get, then I don’t know what is. Plus, guys like Thomas are a lot of fun to follow on social media which is great for the younger audiences.
At one point, it seemed like we only had two or three players that were very good. Now, it feels like we have a thousand, and Thomas and Matsuyama can be added to the list.
Be sure to follow me on Twitter @ChiGolfRadio for no reason! Just hosted a radio show called the “Pirate Ship” and I used my imaginary sword as a putter! Yar!
