$4,000 of that money for the medal- It's freaking Bronze. Great acheivement for Kuchar but seriuosly he is getting charged $4000 which of course any athlete would pay if they want the medal but that's a rip off. Unless the price of bronze has gon way, way up. Time to get into the medal and trophy business.
Huh? A medal winner at the Olympics has to pay for their medals?
Well, at least for Matt Kuchar who bronzed over the weekend after a remarkable eight under round on Sunday. After getting their medals, Justin Rose (gold), Henrik Stenson (silver) and Kuchar (bronze) all were supposed to get paid for winning their prizes, $20,000, $15,000 and $10,000 respectively.
In tradition however, athletes on team Great Britain and Sweden do not get paid for their medals but they don’t have to pay either. Kuchar still got his $10,000. But, he has to pay $4,000 of that money for the medal, so this leaves him with $6,000 which is still a lot of money for you and I but is change for Kuchar.
At the end of the day, Olympic golf has shown us how truly passionate our winners are about the sport. They completely put cash aside and are pumped about their medals.
Then again, who wouldn’t be excited? Especially when your sport hasn’t been in the games in 112 years.

@DiceRoyal Kuchar gets the bronze medal AND $10,000. He is simply paying tax on the $10,000.
