Charles Barkley has been hovering around the golf world lately as he sometimes does with his world famous (And ugly) golf swing. First, within the last couple of weeks, the Round Mound of Rebound was seen hitting a tee shot one-handed which actually looked better than his traditional swing. Now, he told Mike Missanlei of 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly that he and Tiger Woods “aren’t friends anymore”. Charles has made many friends throughout his career both as a terrific basketball player and his current gig as a broadcaster and Tiger Woods has been one of those good friends ever since he got into the sport of golf. The big reason for this broken friendship is because Charles believes that Tiger hasn’t been social enough and thinks he focuses too much of his energy on golf and Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major titles.
“I think that when you’re as great as he has been, and this probably is a negative at some point, like he was so consumed with being the greatest golfer ever, he wasn’t a very sociable guy. Even when was a friend of mine, he wasn’t a very sociable guy. He just had a one-track mind. He just wanted to break Jack Nicklaus’ record.” Sir Charles said according to the Washington Post
“Golf is just a game,” Barkley said. “Your life don’t stink … But I think when you put yourself in that situation where your whole life revolves around how you’re doing on a golf course, you’re gonna develop a negative attitude to a certain degree, instead of saying, ‘I’ve actually got it pretty good.’ It’s like people who say I never won a championship. I understand that. I accept that. But it ain’t like I’m sitting around saying, ‘Oh my God, my life stinks. This is so miserable.’ ”
Some very interesting words from the basketball legend. Personally, I’m not totally an outgoing guy. I don’t drink or anything at all. however, I will talk to people and have good conversations depending on the topic. Like, I can talk sports all day and I can talk about hip hop a good deal as well. If I’m talking about those things then you probably would think I’m an outgoing, expressive personality but I’m not totally outgoing and I’m at best, unpredictable but am also quite chill. From what I can tell with Tiger, he apparently is too focused to talk anything else but golf and I guess he’s been stressing out over breaking Jack’s record. I could talk golf all day, but I’m not going to stress because I’ll likely never win a Pulitzer Prize for my goofy style of writing.
There’s no doubt that Tiger’s life is one that most people dream of and he should be appreciative of that. I understand he wants the record but sometimes you have to kick back, put a smile on, and be thankful where you are in life and Tiger isn’t even 40 yet. Tiger has to realize that even if he never reaches 18, his legacy is still saved. Some will say he’s better than Jack was despite being four majors short of the goal. He doesn’t need to loosen up, or get expressive or anything like that because not everyone is like that BUT there’s no reason to stress over the terrific life you have and the unbelievable legacy you already have. As long as you love what you do, nothing else should matter, even if you feel like you never reached the goal that you wanted. After all, what’s the point of living miserably when everything is so beautiful? Legacy is great, but can never overtake passion. Jot that down in your notes kids!

Ohhhh Charles! Weather you love him or hate him, Charles Barkley is one of the coolest guys out there and he’s always around on the golf course somewhere. His swing is considered by most as the worst swing ever. However, Sir Charles thought it would be neat to a tee shot one-handed and actually, his one-handed shot looks a lot better than his regular swing! Go ahead and take a look!
Hey man, that’s impressive. I’ve attempted the one-handed swing and it’s quite tricky because although golf clubs are particularly light, they feel much more heavier and harder to control with one hand then two. So, I applaud Charles for that effort! You the man Mr. Barkley! You the man!

No longer available in print that is. Golf World magazine which is now affiliated with Golf Digest at Conde’ Nast and has been for a while will go all digital from now on. The last print issues featured Mo “Mo Money” Martin (I gave her that nickname, you heard it here first.) on the cover after her victory at the Women’s British Open Rory Mcilroy was featured on the very last cover after his Open Championship win. So, not only is Rory a three time major champion, he is now the answer to a trivia question as well “Who was on the cover of Golf World’s last print issue?”. This situation kind of sucks, a lot of people including myself, enjoy flipping through the pages of a magazine, especially Golf World with its colorful photos, in depth stats, and high school/amateur coverage. Golf magazine, Golf Digest, and GolfWeek will be the only popular publications to still sell print with GolfWeek being the only publication to have the combination of print, digital, and a mobile app. Golf World has been around since 1947, three years prior to the release of Golf Digest.
‘These are the right decisions, but they’re tough ones,” said Jerry Tarde, the chairman of both magazines according to Yahoo Sports. ”This brand has been around a long time, and we want it be around for a long time. The only way to do it is by meeting the expectation of our readers.”
Come on Mr. Tarde, don’t make us cry! There’s actually a major upside to this which I’m actually pretty excited about. The magazine use to deliver 31 issues a year but now will deliver a whopping 50 issues a year while also being healthy for the environment. Not only that, the exciting thing is that the digital version will have special features such as video coverage, rich photos, and the same great writing that we love. This also improves important aspects such as delivery time and as mentioned above, there will be video reporting with the combination of writing so the bright side is that this will bring a deep, pure, and rich golf journalism experience for fans wherever they are and that’s cool. Plus, the new issues will be on all devices so that includes, phones, tablets and on the PC. Want to read the latest piece by Bill Fields but are miles away from home? No problem, just turn on the phone and read away. Itching to read the “Final Say” by Jamie Diaz? No biggie, just pop open the laptop and read on your bright colorful screen.
So, although this hits us all right in the golf balls, there’s still a lot of great stuff to look forward to with this whole new Golf World experience, besides, there are still three whole magazines (Golf Digest, GolfWeek, and Golf magazine) that still sell print so everybody, just take a breather, it’s all good! Besides, this new version of Golf World is supposed to similar to “Golf World Monday” which is pretty cool because Golf World Monday is solid, very solid so if this is anything as good or better then I think we might be in for something good. Hey, if you need me to hold your hand and give you a hug while you cry then that’s alright bro I got you! I feel you!

Hmmm, makes you wonder, did the dude run out of balls or something? Because why in the world would you fish for golf balls when there’s a freaking alligator in the water?! I think the guy took the GolfSmith “Anything for golf” radio commercials too seriously but thankfully, everything is cool, and the gator was caught. Check out the pics below of the ferocious beast!

Hee’s Baaack! Rory Mcilroy wins his third major title at The Open Championship and is now just a Masters title away from completing the career grand slam. Check out the footage below.
And check out this selfie! Biggest. Selfie. EVER!
Rory also ejected this stupid heckler that kept coughing on his backswings to distract him:
This win couldn’t have come to a more classy guy than Rory Mcilroy. He never gets into trouble off the course, he never gets angered on the course, he just goes out there and tries his best. The end result for his positive behavior? True focus and what happens when you’re focused? You win majors. I also strongly believe that breaking up with Caroline Wozniacki was one of his smartest moves, not that Caroline is a bad person but that there was wedding talk and all kinds of other stuff and it interfered with Rory mentally considering how young he is. That’s tough, especially when your girl is a superstar athlete herself and you have to attend her matches all the time. This gave Rory a chance to stay focused. Yes, he’s dating Nadia Forde, a model, but if anything, he JUST started dating her so I doubt it’s affecting him now and hopefully it doesn’t and that his confidence is right where it needs to be.
Some of y’all probably think I’m crazy, but the man was laying eggs more than a barn full of chickens when he was with Caroline. Now that he got all of that stuff off of his back, he can go back to being Rory. With Rory, winning another major, with him being the Rory of a couple of years ago, golf is in an excellent position now. Rory, Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, Jason Dufner, Patrick Reed, Jimmy Walker, etc all are terrific talents and are bringing the game back on the rise and Rory is the centerpiece of it all. When Rory’s on his game, he’s the face of the PGA Tour.
Before Tiger fans start telling me he’s still the true face of golf, please start actually watching golf when he’s not in the field instead of walking away and coming back when he is. I love you guys but I’m just being real. Heck, Tiger himself may say Rory is the new face of the PGA Tour. Him or possibly Bubba. It’s fair to say because other than Tiger and Phil, Rory and Bubba are arguably the two most popular players on Tour (Even though Ian Poulter has almost as many Twitter followers as Rory believe it or not). Bubba won two Masters in three years and Rory just won his third major so there’s no question about this.
All in all, a terrific win for Rory and his father is now nearly a quarter of million dollars richer. Rory is young, his a great role model, and he’s an all-around player. He’s what golf needs right now. He’s already one of the game’s greats and he’s just getting started. He gets a Green Jacket, and the man’s a legend, and I have no doubts that he’ll get it before 30. He could have easily had a Masters title but as we know, he famously collapsed in the final round a few years ago. We could have been talking about Rory completing the career grand slam right now but that one obstacle is still in the way and that’s not letting his Masters collapse haunt him.
Bubba Watson may even be an obstacle as he’s owned Augusta National the last couple of years and it’s built perfectly for his long driving abilities plus Bubba is a better recovery player than Rory which has helped Bubba well. Despite these things, there’s no doubt that Rory will complete the career slam and what better way to do that than to win a Masters championship? Congrats Rors!
One thing however, that Ian Poulter can do that Rory, Tiger, Phil and Bubba can’t do is hit tee shots over battleships!

Rory Mcilroy’s Dad Made Bet 10 Years Ago That Son Would Win Open Championship, Rory is Currently Destroying Field
Well I’ll be darned! Rory Mcilroy is destroying Royal Liverpool at the Open Championship and his father ironically made a bet 10 years ago that his son would win an Open Championship by the age of 26 and Rory is getting ever closer to accomplishing that. If he pulls it off, he’ll be only a Masters title away from completing the rare career grand slam, winning all four majors at least once in his career. He could have won The Masters a few years ago as he was going wire-to-wire but famously collapsed in the final round and to this day may still haunt him.
Here’s how the bet happened according to Michael Collins of ESPN.com:
HOYLAKE, England — According to the BBC’s Andrew Cotter, 10 years ago Rory McIlroy’s father Gerry and three friends made a legal bet of 400 British pounds (100 each, equivalent to $170.87 currently) that the then-15-year-old would win the Open Championship by the age of 26.
So just to confirm – 10 yrs ago Gerry McIlroy & three friends put £400 at 500-1 on 15 year-old Rory to win The Open before he turned 26.
— Andrew Cotter (@MrAndrewCotter) July 19, 2014
That’s a looott of money! must be nice to just grab buddies and accumulate nearly $200,000 for a bet. At the same time, does it sound kinda wrong to bet on your own kid? Whatever the case is, Rory’s making 30X more money than that bet will ever be and I think we all can agree on that! Let’s see how Rory does on Championship Sunday. If he wins, then this will be a terrific story and maybe the break up with Caroline Wozniacki has something to do with it? See man, love isn’t all you need!

John Daly is one of my favorite players still despite the fact that he hasn’t played as well as he did in the 90’s and early 2000’s and these reasons are likely why! First JD rocks Spongebob pants which look SO COOL and then he rocks pants that has women all over them. I think I’ll let these awesome pair of pants by the ever super cool LoudMouth golf speak for themselves!
— Erik Malinowski (@erikmal) July 17, 2014
And I thought his money pants were swagging out. His wardrobe gets better and better and he still drive for show. JD, you the man!

Woah! Easy there Tiger! Tiger Woods made his first major championship appearance in sometime and what better way to make your big return than to hit a Royal Liverpool course marshal in the face from your tee shot? Well, that’s exactly what Tiger did (By accident of course) when he hit an errant tee shot that ended up hitting the marshal in the face. Fortunately, from what we can tell, the marshal is A okay. Take a look.
Welcome back Mr. Woods!

Hall of Fame golfer and soon to be golf broadcaster for Fox Sports, Greg Norman is taking his talents to the video game world. Greg, a two-time British Open champion, who has a golf course designing company which has found tons of success since 1987, will team up with upcoming golf game “The Golf Club” which is developed by HB Studios, a developer that has helped EA Sports with numerous games. They were going to develop EA’s latest golf game but EA decided to cancel the game until next year which led to HB creating its own golf game. This was a bold move from the start as HB has a small development team that’s only in the double digits. Now, with this huge partnership with “The Shark”, the game looks to be a true contender in the sports gaming category and a possible threat to EA’s golf game.
Norman’s course designing company has received high praise and is considered the third best course designing company in the world. One of the cool and surprising moves is that Norman and his crew will USE The Golf Club’s course designer themselves to help them build and demo courses for real life use. In other words, any course they design in the game, it will be built in real life. This shows the true power of The Golf Club’s course creator feature, that a legendary company such as the Greg Norman Course Design company would use it to build real life courses. That, my friends, is pretty cool.
The course creator was already into effect for HB’s golf game, and was already a brilliant idea but now the course creator is properly titled the “Greg Norman Course Designer”. This feature is the crown jewel of the game which is why the Greg Norman move is huge. There have already been several courses made through The Golf Club’s original course creator in the Steam Early Access version of the game. In golf, the course is the star, and for HB to develop a beautiful golf game with a course creator and to have one of the top course designing companies in the world as an endorsement is a massive step for HB and this game. I am a sports game junkie and I LOVE a good golf game, especially when it has some of the cool features The Golf Club has.
On a more personal note, and I bet some of you guys could relate to this, I was considering attending school to learn landscape design (For golf courses) as well as the media/journalism business but decided to go to the best school that would help me with my love of the media business. Basically, to you high school kids, choosing a college can be tough sometimes! I never really appreciated golf course design much when I first got into golf because all I wanted to do was get the ball in the freaking hole. However, growing up a bit, I started to appreciate design more and now I don’t just look at courses for the beauty of the surroundings (Although that’s still a huge factor for me) but the design of the courses themselves. With the golf course designer and the smooth looking gameplay, The Golf Club looks ready as it gets closer to launch. Look out sports game world! The Golf Club is on the rise!
As mentioned, you can check out the game right now in Steam Early Access.
